Petersburg natives host Donmatrix Day 2023: fitness festival

PETERSBURG – Celebrity fitness pro, Dawn “DB Donamatrix” Brooks, continues to give back to her hometown. Donmatrix Day 2023: Mark your calendars to attend the fitness festival on Saturday, April 1st. This is the fifth anniversary of the free, fun-filled, family-friendly, community event.

“We need all the fraternities and sororities to pull up and show up,” said DB Donamatrix, a graduate of Virginia State University.

The event will return this year to Petersburg High School, DB Donmatrix’s alma mater. Experience the don-a-matrix workout with DB Donamatrix and burn up to 1000 calories in 45 minutes. The Festival will feature some of Central Virginia’s most popular fitness trainers, exciting vendors, health and dental screenings, unique “moving” activities for kids, and an in-demand kickball tournament.

• 10:30am – Afro-Yoga, Dr. Shawnrell Blackwell
• 11am – Extreme Hip-Hop, Keisha
• 11:30 am – Dawn-a-Matrix Workout, DB DawnMatrix
• 12 noon – Bandz A Make Her Dance, Geneva
• 1 p.m. – Seductive Fitness, Shawnty Mitchell
• 1:30 pm – Dawn-a-Matrix Workout, DB DawnMatrix

The workout takes place in the Petersburg High School gymnasium.

DB Donamatrix said, “Bring your family and friends. Come have some fun, and prepare to sweat.” “We’ll have health screenings, blood pressure checks, lots of vendors, music, and of course some dope workout classes.”

The Crimson Clinic, a school-based health center located inside Petersburg High School, will provide vaccinations and sports physicals on the day of the event.
