Davina McCall has opened up about her difficult childhood and admitted she had a poor relationship with her mother Florence before praising her stepmother Gabby for being her ‘rock’.

Davina McCall has admitted she had a “tumultuous, messy” relationship with her birth mother and said her stepmother was her “rock” while growing up.

The 55-year-old TV presenter took to Instagram to share a special Mother’s Day post to celebrate her stepmother Gabe McCall and thanked her for her “unwavering love”.

Davina shared a sweet photo of Gabby and her late father Andrew McCall as the pair cuddled up to each other during a seaside walk.

In the caption, Davina said that while her relationship with her birth mother Florence Coke was filled with “hate”, she still had “lovely” memories of their time together.

“Happy Mother’s Day to my stepmom Gabby,” Davina wrote.

“I say she’s my stepmother because wonderful mother figures come in many forms. I had a crazy, funny, messy, messy, loving, disgusting relationship with my birth mother (if you follow @myhorridparent follow) and Gabi was my rock.

“She and my nanny kept me sane. And I’m so grateful for their undying love x.”
